So far first impressions are great. Easy to setup and does a good job stabilizing. I do pro video for a living with larger setups on the Ronin RS2 and Sony Alpha cameras so I did a lot of research before picking up an Osmo. Here is my verdict:I use an iPhone 13 Pro and picked up a couple Moment lenses along with their 67mm filter adapter to utilize a small VND filter with the lenses. All together I’m loading the phone, case, lens, adapter, filter, and counterweights. Needless to say weight capacity was very important for me.. and that’s one of the two big reasons I picked up the OM4 SE over the OM5.According to DJI, the OM4 SE is said to handle 290g while the OM5 handles 230g. My guess is the OM5 had to make some payload compromises to support the smaller deign and extender pole.A second big difference is battery life between the two. The OM4 SE (in perfect conditions) is said to last up to 15 hours. The OM5 tops out at 6.5 hours. 6.5 hours is still a great length of time all things considered but if you’re like me and plan to use these mostly on the go while traveling I like having the longer battery life. I can go on all day adventures hiking or whatever where recharging options are very limited and not have to worry about the gimbal dying.Obviously everyone’s setups, needs, and uses are different, but if you’re like me and plan to mount additional smartphone accessories or travel a lot with your phone gimbal then I would definitely recommend the OM4 SE over the OM5.Oh, and one more thing: the OM4 SE is $60 cheaper 🤷🏽‍♂️ Put that extra $60 towards a cheap smartphone lens or VND filter/adapterCheers 🤙🏽

I was undecided about purchasing the OM$ or the newer OM5.
After looking at some YouTube reviews , I took some advice and got the OM4.
I am glad that I did.
The OM4 has 2-3 times more battery life and does everything that the OM5 does , but doesn’t have the extendible handle , which I don’t think is particularly useful for most people.
The tracking and hand gestures to start and stop recording are most useful for me , and they work fine.

Basically, I am happy with the OM4 , which woks great for my own purposes and has all the features that I need.
If there is one weakness it’s the DJI Mimo app which has very limited video recording capabilities.

I am starting a hiking video diary channel, using my iPhone 8 Plus as the main video camera and needed to keep it level and steady whilst walking. DJI have a great reputation for quality and the OM4 was recommended by other vloggers. It’s a great piece of kit but I soon realised that one has to completely re-learn how to shoot video on a phone. The smooth panning of the gimbal, keeping the phone moving at a constant rate, means that you really have to think about the timing of your shots.

One feature that sold me on this gimbal is the ‘Follow Me’ function. Select the subject you want to keep in frame and the gimbal will (most of the time) keep it in shot. This is great for “talking head” shots but can look too obvious sometimes. Still, it’s a nice feature to have.

A lot of the functions for controlling the phone are accessed through the buttons on the gimbal (phone orientation, re-centring, etc.) and take a while to get the hang of. The free app is a great addition to the gimbal and provides many many more features, such as exposure, frame rate, resolution, phone picture mode, etc.

My only slight gripe is fixing the phone to the magnetic mount. You can choose to permanently affix the corresponding mount to the back of the phone, which I really didn’t wish to do, but a bracket is also supplied, though this means that you need to remove the phone from any case that you would normally use. You need to be really careful when outdoors that you don’t hit the phone with anything. If DJI provided and integrated case with mount then this would be an ideal solution!

The battery life is superb and I was able to use it for a whole day (on and off) of filming. It even provided a power boost (with the supplied power cable) to my iPhone when its own battery started to drain.

I’ve only just scratched the surface of using a gimbal with my phone but so far it performs brilliantly and I would definitely recommend it to others.

(Please note that the photo shows the OM4 mounted on a tripod with a cold shoe mount that were purchased separately)

After their update, the “story mode” which does all it’s camera movements by it self doesn’t work on back camera meaning u can’t use that feature, it also doesn’t work on any using the back camera for Video to use the gimbal app. All u can use is camera selfi video ( back camera wontwork for video story, dynamic zoom and if u selected story and then went back to video then it doesn’t work on normal video usingback cam, and camera photo ( front and Back camera works)

If u look deeper you will see all the makes that uses the DJI Mimo App including the new DJIOM5 ppl have the same issue.

The app needs to be downloaded and installed from the mimo website not the playstore cos DJI are lazy to update the playstore app!

I’ve spent Weeks contacting support and sending them phone screen recordings and and even Amazon and playstore reviews about it not working on Android anymore. And they just keep saying they will look into it and get back to me. In the mean time I have a gimble that’s a was bought 3 months ago and I can’t use it unless I fork out and buy an iPhone which I don’t want!
£118 down the drain. And to make it worse even after saying they should contact their senior managers or sales manger and report it cos it does affect their sales too plus selling a gimble that doesn’t work on Android other than just being a hand held stabiliser with no automatic features, they don’t do that. Instead- igeg another email from another guy telling me to download the app from online and what version it should be like I hadn’t done that and sent them screen shots and a video too!
I just hope Amazon can help me now.

    Dont buy this

A really good bit of kit, build quality and durability is especially good. Software is brilliant, very easy to navigate around and some good effects. Does have a tendency to start panning around without input, but could be how mine is set up.

El producto está genial. El estabilizador, la carga rapida, incluso la app para edición y share para redes sociales esta genial. Todo es muy facil de entender y los tutoriales son sencillisimos

Absolutely awesome bit of kit…. So long as you connect it to an iPhone.
It does not work well on android. Virtually useless.
Bought this as a present for my wife to use with her google pixel and it barely worked with very limited functionality. I had to upgrade her phone to an iPhone (which made her very happy) she is now producing superb videos and pictures. I would give it 5 stars but the android app and compatibility issues really let it down.

Pros:This DJI product worked very well for us during our cruise. We used it extensively and were happy with the results.BT worked well and connection was never interrupted. BT on Andriod is good. You can zoom, pan, video and/or take photos.Battery life is good. I charged it and got 6 hours of use before I had to charge it. It holds charges very well.Cons:Android phones will not have the full functionality i.e. switching between camera photo functions (panoramic, slo-motion). These functions must be switched manually.DJI app could be downloaded. Customer service was useless in fixing app issue.Overall was impressed and would recommend it to anyone.

The face tracking that the app has with the final is really fun to use. This was a little tricky to learn but you start to get the hang of it. Loved the app helping me edit videos. That was super fun!!

I guess its good if you are an IPhone user but this is not really made for Android phones!
First problem is that is very hard to connect to my phone via app and it’s disconecting quite often it drains your phone battery very quickly and also leaves your phone hot!
The android app is very limited compared to the IPhone app.
Basically I do not recommend this product if you are an android user!
