Q. How to activate and start using DJI Mini 3 Pro after unboxing?

A. To begin with, to ensure the safety of transportation, DJI Mini 3 Pro Intelligent Flight Batteries are put into sleep mode by the developer. To activate the battery, you need to carry out the charging process (recommended charger: DJI 30W USB-C Charger or Two-Way Charging Hub or any 30-watt USB-C charger often used to charge all kinds of smart devices). Use the USB-C ⇔ USB-C PD cable provided to connect the charger to the aircraft/remote controller.

If you are using a standard charger to charge the drone’s battery (DJI 30W USB-C Charger or any 30W USB-C charger), install the battery in the drone itself. Using the USB-C ⇔ USB-C PD cable, connect the charger to the drone.

If you use the separately purchased Two-Way Charging Hub for charging (you can learn more about it in the “Additional Accessories” section above), then the batteries are installed in the hub itself. Its advantage is that it can sequentially charge up to three batteries, including the remote control or any USB device such as a smartphone or tablet. To ensure the most efficient charging, the developer recommends using it in tandem with the DJI 30W USB-C Charger.

The battery built into the remote control also needs to be charged (use the Two-Way Charging Hub or any 15-watt (5V/3A) USB-C charger to charge). The charging process of the batteries of both devices will be indicated by a flashing green LED indication (four miniature LEDs on the top of the drone / remote control). When the batteries are charged, the battery level indicator will turn off. After charging and activating the Intelligent Flight Battery and charging the remote controller battery, install the battery in the aircraft. Now everything is ready to turn on and activate the devices.

Note! The activation of the drone/remote control is carried out once, and it takes quite a long time (the total duration depends on the speed of the Internet and the performance of the smartphone, if the drone is used in tandem with a standard remote control ).

To successfully complete the activation process, the drone and remote controller batteries must be at least 75% charged. But it will be better if you carry out the first charge to 100%. While the batteries are being charged, we strongly recommend that you fully read the instruction manual. This approach will eliminate all issues that will arise during operation!

After you have fully charged both the remote control and drone batteries, follow the steps below depending on which remote control comes with your drone (standard DJI RC-N1 or top-end DJI RC).

If you have a standard DJI RC-N1 remote control:

  1. If you haven’t already, install the DJI Fly app on your smartphone (visit the official DJI page to download).
  2. Place a smartphone (connected to the Internet) into the retractable remote control holder. Connect the remote control and your smartphone with the included RC cable (there are three short cables included: USB-C / Lightning / Micro-USB; choose the one that matches your smartphone). One of them can be under the retractable smartphone holder.
  3. Remove two metal sticks from the bottom end of the console and install them in the left and right hinged part of the control joysticks
  4.   6. Turn on the drone with the button located at the top of it. It is worth noting here that this button has two modes of operation. A short single press on the button activates the indicator of the current battery charge. If you short press the power button and then press and hold it again for 2 seconds, the drone will turn on. The process of turning off the drone is the same as turning it on. In general, this is how not only all DJI drones and control panels turn on and off, but also many other modern UAVs. While the drone system is conducting a short automatic self-test procedure
  7.   9.
